Lesson Overview

In the midst of human turmoil, we grow weary and can lose sight of the purpose for our lives. How can we escape the confusion to refresh and reorient ourselves to get back on track? God created an opportunity for the weary Jacob to reconnect with his spiritual mission and resources for him to begin his life’s journey with renewed vigor.

Aim for Change

By the end of the lesson, we will:

  • AFFIRM that God’s strength meets us in our human weakness.

  • SYMPATHIZE with Jacob’s feelings of weakness and vulnerability.

  • RESOLVE to make time for God to refresh us when we feel weak.

Lesson Title

God the Deliverer: God Is Defined by His Love, Mercy, and Forgiveness

Focal Verses

Exodus 34:1–10

Lesson Overview

People sometimes find themselves in tough situations. How can we know who God is and if He is with us at these times? God showed His presence in a special way to Moses on Mount Sinai, assuring His people that He would lead them.

Aim for Change

By the end of the lesson, we will:

  • LIST God’s attributes as revealed to Moses.

  • PRAISE God for His love, mercy, and faithfulness.

  • REFLECT on God’s love, mercy, and faithfulness.

September 20, 2026

Lesson Title

God Is With Those Who Honor Him: God Wants to Be Our God as We Are His People

Focal Verses

Leviticus 26:1–6, 11–13

Lesson Overview

The lesson leads us to places where we find comfort in the promise of God’s presence. This lesson is designed to guide the learner into affirming the divine moral authority, which is greater than the self. In this lesson we learn that while others in our world may resist the imposition of rules, we, as redeemed people, cannot ignore living by divine guidelines.

Aim for Change

By the end of the lesson, we will:

  • KNOW the blessings God offers to those who honor Him.

  • FEEL confident that God is with us to help us follow His Law.

  • CONSIDER how Christians are supposed to interact with Jewish laws.

September 27, 2026

Lesson Title

Moses Disobeys: God Holds Leaders to High Standards

Focal Verses

Numbers 20:1–13

Lesson Overview

Even great leaders may fail to heed higher authority. Why do people disregard authority? Despite clear instructions, Moses disobeyed God’s command in providing water for the Israelites. Because he did not trust God to provide for the people, Moses disobeyed God and suffered a great consequence.

Aim for Change

By the end of the lesson, we will:

  • EXAMINE the details of God’s command and Moses’ disobedience.

  • MOURN times we have disobeyed.

  • COMMIT to support our church leaders in prayer.
